Education Opportunity Program Details

Every highly motivated, accomplished student can access lectures from top American universities, no matter how limited their financial resources.  The Education Opportunity Program (EOP) is designed to help eligible low-income students take advantage of free online courses offered by Yale, MIT, Stanford and other top universities.  By completing these courses and participating in the EOP, students have the opportunity to:

  • Get a major start on an excellent college education for free
  • By doing this, improve their chances of getting into the college, internship or job of their choice and of getting scholarships and excelling once they get there

Participating students receive one-on-one mentoring from an MIT economist, successful entrepreneur and former university professor Dr. Terrence Colvin, on how to prepare for, receive admission to and make the most of college education.  Imagine how students would be received if they had mastered the material from a year or more of courses from some of the world’s best universities.  Eligible students receive letters certifying their completion and performance in our program, which can be used to enhance college admission, scholarship or job applications.

The EOP started in 2007 with one young student, a daughter of a Colombian immigrant, who had moved to the U.S. while in her early teens.  She started public school in Florida with very little English speaking ability but with a strong desire to succeed.  She used her participation in the EOP program to help gain admission and significant financial aid at an excellent college.  She received top grades during her freshman year and obtained an internship with an investment firm on Wall Street.  She has completed college and continues to participate in our program.

The EOP currently seeks to help 20 students achieve successes like those achieved by its first client this year and it will continue to look for eligible, interested students in the future.  For more information about the EOP or to apply, email or Contact Us.
